Hugh Carter Acoustic guitars, flute, keyboards, percussion, backing vocals
One of the original founders of Abel Ganz, Hugh has over the years primarily played bass with the band but has also dabbled with 12 string electric, flute and bass pedals as well as a few brief appearances on lead vocals. To keep his hand in on bass Hugh still plays with Rolling Stones tribute band Sticky Fingers.

Stevie Donnelly Bass guitar.
Stevie joined Abel Ganz in 2006 during the later stages of the recording of Shooting Albatross after much of the bass was already recorded by Hugh. Stevie is a highly accomplished player unlike the leaden fingered Mr Carter and adds a dynamism and visual focus to the band Hugh can only dream about! He plays a matched set of Musicman Stingray 4 and 5 string and fretless basses through an Ampeg amp with Trace Elliot cabs and Boss effects. Stevie formally played bass with Davie and Denis in the jazz funk outfit The Fred Quimby Quartet and rock band The Electric Daisies.

Stuart “Mick” MacFarlane Lead vocals, acoustic and electric guitar
Mick joined Abel Ganz in late 2007 during the final stages of the recording and apart from singing beautifully plays a Takemine acoustic guitar and a Fender Strat through whatever amp he can blag off Hugh and whatever scraps from Davie’s pedal collection we feel like throwing him! As long as he goes easy on the chorus! Mick formally played bass with folk rock band Hair of the Dog and still gigs as a solo act with his acoustic guitar under his real name Stuart.

Davie Mitchell Guitars
Davie is a fabulously inventive guitarist being equally at home at “in your face” rock, jazz funk chops or tasteful acoustic finger picking. Davie has been with Ganz since recording started way back in 2000 and over the years has played in a variety of bands too numerous to list mostly involving Denis too. His current set up includes a Schecter C1and his pride and joy a 1959 Gibson ES 175D through a Marshall Anniversary Combo and matching 2x12, Boss pedals and Ebow.

Jack Webb Keyboards
Jack is the newest recruit to Abel Ganz. An incredibly accomplished musician - we are very lucky and happy to have him on board.
Some of you will have already heard Jack's playing as he featured quite heavily on the Shooting Albatross album as a session musican.

Denis Smith Drums and backing vocals
Denis is enjoying his 2nd stint with The Ganz having previously played drums on The Dangers of Strangers album. and teamed up again in 2000 at the start of recording.
Not just a powerful drummer but the driving force on both the production and business side of the band. We call him The Progmeister General but not to his face or within drumstick throwing distance!
Denis plays a Tama Starclassic kit with a Mapex brass snare and uses Zildjian cymbals.
